Technical Properties of Froncrete Lightweight Concrete Furniture
Froncrete lightweight concrete furniture is designed for environments where conventional furniture materials wear out quickly, swell in moisture or require frequent maintenance.
Lightweight concrete furniture is used, for example, in:
-
year-round outdoor terraces, balconies and outdoor kitchens
-
kitchens and bathrooms
-
high-traffic public spaces and development projects
comprehensive concrete interior solutions and decorative surfaces, where furniture forms an architectural part of the space
The properties outlined below explain the durability, stability and minimal maintenance requirements of Froncrete furniture.

1 Moisture-resistant and highly wear-resistant
As a solid monolayer material and fully waterproof surface, lightweight concrete does not swell or crack even in salty coastal climates or on year-round exposed terraces.
It withstands rain, snow and repeated freeze-thaw cycles and remains highly durable under intensive use.
2 UV- and weather-resistant
The material retains its colour tone and surface quality even under strong sunlight and temperature variations.
If surfaces fade after many years of exposure, the monomaterial can be lightly sanded and re-waxed — restoring the furniture to a like-new appearance.
3 Lightweight
With a lower density than water or MDF boards, the material simplifies transport and installation, including on roof terraces and in development projects. Hardware and structural elements are subjected to less load.
4 Minimal maintenance
Concrete surfaces are treated with food-safe and environmentally friendly oils and waxes.
Furniture fronts and worktops are easy to clean using a damp cloth or neutral cleaning agents.
5 Sustainability
Designed to last significantly longer than conventional furniture.
The concrete contains no cement, and approximately 65% of the material consists of recycled components — a responsible long-term choice.
How Lightweight Concrete Becomes Integrated Design Furniture
The production of lightweight concrete furniture begins with casting a façade panel measuring 2400 × 1100 mm in a vertical mould. The natural flow of the mix creates the characteristic air-void texture of concrete on both sides of the 19 mm thick panel. From the finished panel, visible elements such as doors and drawer fronts are cut to the required dimensions for each bespoke project.
A complete furniture solution typically consists of lightweight concrete façades, SuperIOR concrete countertops and internal cabinet structures made from waterproof marine plywood or other project-specific materials, together with fittings and integrated appliances.
As a continuous monomaterial, concrete surfaces do not swell in moisture or crack due to temperature changes. Over time, the appearance of the furniture can be refreshed if needed through light sanding and waxing.
Lightweight concrete panels are highly workable, allowing the creation of both detail-rich furniture and decorative surfaces that blend seamlessly into concrete-toned interiors.

Unique texture and
wide colour range
Lightweight concrete furniture makes it possible to create a clear focal point in a space or to shape its overall atmosphere.
Froncrete’s core tones are designed to complement both contemporary interiors and nature-inspired environments.
Eight base tones are available and can be used across furniture façades, countertops and concrete decorative surfaces.

Waterproof
Our concrete doors and countertops are treated with organic wax so they do not absorb water or let dirt get into the air bubbles that make FRONCRETE so attractive. This means you can safely have fun in the kitchen, without worrying about spilling water or anything else .
From our point of view, you can even wash the surfaces of your FRONCRETE products with a pressure washer. PS! Before you do this, check that everything else around you is also water-friendly.

Extremely durable
FRONCRETE doors and work surfaces are solid concrete monomaterial and therefore more durable than other materials. Thanks to the special composition, scratching surfaces requires extra effort. When it finally succeeds, the scratches add more personality to the surfaces and serve as a reminder of the time we spent together. Just like Iggy Pop and fine wine, FRONCRETE never gets old, it gets better with time.
If you still want to get rid of these memories, we can endlessly repair the concrete "invisibly" and erase the traces of the past.
Lightweight!
The common belief that concrete is always heavy is no longer true. Thanks to a special recipe, FRONCRETE concrete doors are lighter than MDF doors of the same size and even float happily in water.
So it is light enough, to work well with standard fittings and hinges that come with your IKEA frames. So you can let your creativity fly freely and use the fittings you like.

Easy to install
FRONCRETE products are designed so that they can be installed by yourself with tools available in any major hardware store, just like IKEA furniture.
The material is easy to work with, and if you wish, you can cut it into the size and shape that suits you. You can drill holes exactly where you need them. A quick sanding and it's done.
If your experiences as a handyman so far are not very encouraging, we recommend that you call some professionals for help.
Sustainable
Lasts longer than regular furniture, no cement is used in the concrete and 65% of the material is recycled material.
However, should your time with FRONCRETE come to an end, you can make something else out of the panels or return them to us so that we can we can crush concrete slabs and use them in furniture that will make new homes happy.
